Thank you
Thank you.
Thanks right, thank you. I have been thinking about those words in the last day or so. Let me backtrack for you. A family member had a little thing/procedure in the hospital. And it took a little bit to recover, so they stayed with me. And as payment they gave me a heartfelt thank you. Yep, that was it. No more, no less. And it was excellent. It provided me with a great feeling way down deep. What a super set of words, who came up with them? It's like magic. If you do not use these words, learn how -- it's priceless in todayÕs society.
I work in the world of IT so I never see anyone on a good day. You never call up your tech and tell him: "Thanks for that fix that you did last week, it held great and my system is running like a champ." Why? It is their job and mine to serve you, but it is thankless. I challenge you to try it -- say thank you to the barista at Starbucks when s/he hands you your morning caffeine fix. I know itÕs hard to think before the cup has been upended and that almost
Too-hot nectar flowsÑ-but try it: Say thank you and tell them to have a nice day. You will get a smile and look thatÕll make your $5 latte worth it. And maybe just maybe the one day when you feel lower than a rattlesnakeÕs belly someone will gift you with the same kind of good feeling.
So thank you for reading and e-mailing me. Thank you for the time it takes. I hope I can continue to make this rewarding.
Now for the funny. This is not a license to invade personal space. Give long lingering looks, oddly long handshakes, or inappropriate elbow touching. Nice is nice. Too nice is a little creepy: Strange older lady on the train that smiles too long at me -- CUT THAT OUT. If you are unsure of the creepiness of your actions, ask a friend.

You are so right! Not only does it make someone's day to say "Thank you," it gets you a few favors too. And for that little extra sumthin, sumthin, add a smile to your "Thank you." So, to my IT guyÑand my coffee guyÑI say, "Thank you :-)"
